Polyester Films

Toray Plastics (America), Inc.’s Lumirror® Polyester Film Division is responsible for the research, development, and manufacture of a wide range of innovative, value-added polyester films for packaging and industrial applications. As one of Toray’s six global polyester film manufacturing sites, our North Kingstown, Rhode Island-based manufacturing plant houses three lines that produce in excess of 80 million pounds of PET annually and reinforce Toray Industries’ standing as the world’s largest producer of BOPET, with greater than 700 million pounds produced annually.

Toray’s PET is renowned for its excellent thermal stability and superior mechanical properties, including high strength, dimensional stability, optical clarity and precision surface characteristics. Decades of manufacturing expertise and ongoing research enable us to create the highest-quality co-extruded PET film, including super-smooth, heat-sealable, high-clarity, low-gloss and low-haze matte film. If it is preferable, we can metalize on-site in our state-of-the-art facility or treat in-line with special coatings for direct embossing, barrier, adhesion promotion, ink receptivity, reduced iridescence, and antistatic qualities.

Every day customers choose Toray Lumirror PET film for a diverse array of high-profile brand applications. Among them are lidding for dairy goods, fresh, refrigerated, frozen, dual-ovenable, sterilized, and hot-fill foods, stand-up pouches, and labels for packaging applications. For industrial applications, our PET film is used for in-mold decorating, solar control window film, graphics, electronics, digital display screens, UV-resistant durable-goods and in-mold decorations, thermal transfer ribbon (TTR) for digital printing, and wire and cable insulation, as well as numerous other specialy applications.
