Toray Plastics (America) and Toray Industries, Inc., are committed to environmental, social, and corporate governance and aim to contribute to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies, and products that help address global issues. At Toray Plastics (America), R&D is focused on the development of materials that are fossil fuel-free, compostable, biodegradable, and/or recyclable. Bio-based PET films are currently available. We’re also answering our customers’ call to help them reduce their packaging material content. Toray has long been a global leader in the manufacture of thin and ultra-thin films and environment-friendly manufacturing processes.
Toray is also committed to being a good neighbor. The company launched its sustainability initiative in 2004. That includes the operating of two solar farms and cogeneration plants, energy and water conservation, recycling, and zero-landfill. Customers value our efforts to minimize our carbon footprint, as does the Rhode Island community.
As a member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, we aim to help organize for universal recycling standards and industry alignment that will enable investments in next-generation hardware for film production, recycling, and the use of post-consumer scrap.
