PEF Foam Expo

North Kingstown, Rhode Island (June 14, 2022)—Toray Plastics (America), Inc., will highlight its PEF Division’s advanced precision-engineered, irradiation-crosslinked, polypropylene and polyethylene foam technologies for automotive and flooring applications at Foam Expo 2022, June 28-30, booth 1303. Foams for industrial applications, including gasket, tape, and composites, will also be displayed. Toray’s foams include ToraSoft®, TorayPEF®, ToraPRO™, and XLPE. The company will also share with expo visitors the important supply chain benefits to be gained by working with a reputable U.S.-based manufacturer, as well as the competitive advantages provided by its parent company, Toray Industries, Inc. The global enterprise is committed to contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies, and products. The PEF Division is a state-of-the-art research and manufacturing facility located in Front Royal, Virginia.

The ToraSoft and ToraPEF brands are recognized worldwide as the premier foam for luxury haptics in automotive applications. OEMs, trim component processors, and Tier 1 suppliers specify it for manufacturing door and instrument panels, consoles, armrests, glove boxes, seat backs, and knee bolsters, among other parts. More than 160 automotive brands worldwide use Toray foams. The ToraPRO foams are specified for flooring applications. These polypropylene-based foams deliver excellent sound dampening and higher compression resistance at lower density than traditional polyethylene-based underlayments. They are used for glue-down, floating, and nail-down installations on roll-out and pre-attached pad applications and can be customized in widths ranging from 1,000mm to 2,200mm. Toray’s XLPE foams are specified by gasket, tape, and composites manufacturers. These foams provide end users with the consistent density, thickness, and uniformity that are essential for successful applications. Toray offers XLPE in a range of densities and thicknesses.

“The PEF Division is eager to return in person to Foam Expo and present to visitors its high- quality foams, share information about its expertise in manufacturing excellence, address supply challenges with solutions, and discuss its next generation of automotive foam products that are in development,” says Jack White, Director of Sales, PEF Division. White explains that the new products in development are being designed to meet the evolving requirements of interior trim manufacturing processes and new quality standards.

“We’re also looking forward to telling visitors about our affiliation with our parent company, Toray Industries, Inc.,” says White. “Toray Plastics America is recognized as a manufacturer of the highest quality foam. But what many in the industry don’t know is that our parent company, Toray Industries, Inc., provides us with a depth and breadth of global resources that are essential for innovation and success today and in the long-term.
