Toray Plastics (America), Inc., Expands International Sustainability and Carbon Certification

North Kingstown, Rhode Island (October 16, 2025)—Toray Plastics (America), Inc., announces it has expanded the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) scope for their location in North Kingstown, Rhode Island to include collecting point and mechanical recycling plant.

By becoming a collecting point for post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials and leveraging our advanced mechanical recycling process, we can significantly increase the supply of PCR-content PET to our film and resin customers. This supports their sustainability initiatives while reducing landfill waste.  Our efforts align with the principles of the circular economy and reinforce our commitment to environmental stewardship through ISCC PLUS certification which ensures traceability, transparency, and responsible sourcing throughout the value chain,” says Matt Brown, Vice President and General Manager of Toray’s Lumirror Division.

The ISCC is the world’s largest certifications system with more than 12,000 valid certificates and 300 members in 130 countries. It aims for zero deforestation; protection of land with high biodiversity and high carbon stock; protection of soil, water, and air; compliance with human, labor, and land rights; measurement and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; and traceability throughout supply chains. The sustainability certification system covers all sustainable feedstocks, including agricultural and forestry biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, circular materials and renewables. Chain of custody can be established for Toray’s recycled scrap, resin, and films. A list of ISCC certificates and statements of conformity can be found here: https://www.iscc-system.org/certification/certificate-database/valid-certificates/.
